Freemasonry is the worlds oldest, still running, benevolant fraternal society.

It is a collection of men, from all walks of life, who are concerned with moral and spiritual values and as such have come together with fellow men of a like minded position.

Freemasonry is a fraternal order, it is not a, nor a substitute for, religion and all it's members have to have a belief in a supreme being i.e. have a faith already, before they can join.

The full entry requirements of Freemasonry are,

First and foremost they must hold, and continually hold, a beleif in a supreme being. They must be male, of mature age (generally 21 also in some areas and under some cirumstances 18), and of good repute.

As an organisation, and therefore it's members, Freemasonry follows three principles:

Brotherly Love - Every true Freemason will show tolerance and respect for the opinions of others and behave with kindness and understanding to his fellow creatures.

Relief - Freemasons are taught to practise charity and to care, not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.

Truth - Freemasons strive for truth, requiring high moral standards and aiming to achieve them in their own lives.

Freemasonry from it's origin has been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged, and this continues today with the addition of large sums donated to international, national and local charities as well as disaster relief.

Freemasonry's objectives, approach and requirements are sometimes confused by it's own members as they tend to allow personal perference, phrases, notation and opinion to intermingle with the very basics of Freemasonry. The explination provided above by ILuv is in essence wholly accurate save a few points and phrases which can provide an impression which actually conflicts with the truth regarding Freemasonry. In example, "belief in the one living and true God, a revelation of His Will, the resurrection of the body, and the immortality of the soul" is partially right but made incorrect merely by phrase, Freemasons do not have to believe in the "one living and true God" as this would be faith specific, they are required to believe in a supreme being, God as each sees Him. Also Freemasonry does not require a belief in the resurrection of the body, as again this would be segregating faiths, and being faith specific.

I make these last points, not to take credit away from what is first and foremost an excellent answer, but because Freemasonry becomes a target due to such slight and in truth not necessarily important, mis-quotes regarding the fraternity.

To cover some later points...

Yes Freemasonry is Occultist, but not in 20th century Hollywood terms, but by the proper definition of the word. Occult among other definitions means "secret; disclosed or communicated only to the initiated." to which Freemasonry is, only the initiated can view the ceremonies we perform, much as only a Christian can take holy communion, only the top level cardinals see the process of voting in the pope, etc etc which is also Occult by the words proper definition.

Freemasonry is not a secret organisation, if it were you wouldnt have it's members on here answering your questions, lodges and grand lodges would not have websites detailing where they are, when and at what time they meet, they would not operate business account or file accounts with companies house, inland revenue etc and the public certainly wouldn't be able to buy masonic year books showing all the members. So secret organisation it is not, it like every human being, organisation and group choses to keep certain elements to itself.

I hope that helps, but by all means message me any further enquiries.

ILuv provides a good response.

cuttingedge.org is anti-mason propaganda that have been proven false

scarletandthebeast.com is similar false anti-mason rhetoric

Freemasonry provides more charity than any other organization in the world. All of the freedoms you have in the USA are based on freemason principles

Freemasonry is the science by which morality is taught through the visible symbols and instructive traditions associated with the erection of King Solomon's Temple some 3,000 years ago. Like every science and permanent institution, Freemasonry is built on certain conceded principles. These include a belief in the one living and true God, a revelation of His Will, the resurrection of the body, and the immortality of the soul. When we say, "one God," we refer to the supreme and benevolent being in which a man places his ultimate trust. We are a non-denominational institution accepting men of all faiths. Freemasonry is however, supportive of every religion believing in one God. It denies to no man his particular theological or secular beliefs, but rather complements those beliefs.

It sounds like a glorified elks lodge :)

Are beneficial this is no longer Zionists freemasons. this is no longer likely that freemasons have greater administration of the international than Zionists who have faith they are the chosen ones. From my journey and learn it seems that glaring that Zionists have placed above the regulation "loose" masons to artwork for them.
