You take old milk
From the refrigerator
Because of the “Sell By” date
You place it on the counter
Where it sits for days
You walk in and wonder
“What is that stink”
While the milk you took
Still sits by the sink
You take, you use,
You do not put away
When you married me
You did not marry a maid.

This is so funny and playful Sam. I love it. The rhyme, the short lines, the topic so dear to me - lol. Great job.

After reading so many dramatic poems of teenage angst, or poems where someone tackles a huge subject like "life," it's nice to to read a poem about a small, personal matter.

However, I don't this this is the RIGHT small, personal matter for a poem. It seems like one of those petty little everyday frictions between any people who live together: "You left the cap off the toothpaste. Oh yeah? Well, you leave hair in the sink when you shave," etc. etc."

I realize that those little things are annoying, but hey, don't drag ME into your domestic squabbles -- I'm just an innocent reader looking for some truth or beauty. Save your poetry for BIGGER little issues. Do you know what I mean?
