If the world ends, and there are 100,000 people left on the earth, which types of engineers will be most valuable in helping to rebuild civilization?

I would say civil and mechanical engineers. These two types would know how to work with objects around them, and adapt and redevelop technology, unlike electrical and otherwise which must use current technology. Also, mechanical and civil would have the most input in repairing the basic needs, such and water and shelter.

If the world ended there would not be 100,000 people left. Anyway structural, electrical, and plumbing engineers would be the most valuable.

Well if there are 100,000 people left, the world has not ended, has it! It has just been disastrously reduced but not ended.
OK, so I am being overly technical.
Engineers of any kind would be useless. You would want all 100,000 people to be Amish. They know how to live without technology.

I wish I would have a dollar for every time some one ask this question.
With 100K people left there will be no need for engineers. We will go back to be hunter gatherers living of the land. There will be a surplus of everything. Guns, fuel, power generators, ham wave radios. Get the point?
100K people is not enough to keep current infrastructure running.
But don't worry, nothing will happen in 2012.
