There is no best conference.
The SEC is overhyped. If the SEC is so much stronger, why are they only 7-7 against teams from other BCS conferences? When Alabama loses to Louisiana Monroe but beats the western division champion of the conference, when Auburn loses at home to a team that finished at about the middle of the Big East, it tells you the SEC is not as dominant as they want you to think.
If you take average scores in computer polls, SEC has a slight edge over the ACC. Big East and Big 12 are nearly tied for 3rd, then comes the Pac 10, with Big 10 bringing up the rear.

1st-Big East- They lost half of thier conference a few years back, losing BOTH of the teams that were in the ACC title game. Every team accomplished something in the conference this year (save Louisville, I cite the loss of thier coach). USF is very good and should be ranked higher than they are....might I add that they beat Auburn, and WVU beat Missisipi State, and the only reason that LSU is in the title game is because of LeSean McCoy out of Pitt tearing up WVU. Oh, the Big East one all of thier bowls last year and will win all again this year, just like every year, Jesse T, the bowl challenge cup is comin' back to Providence!
2nd-SEC
3rd-Big Ten
4th-Pac-10- The conference, aside from USC, can't accomplish anything, remember Cal? Oregon ended up being all Dixon, who should win the heisman.
5th-Big 12
6th-ACC
7th-WAC
8th-MWC
9th-Conference USA
10th-Sun Belt (thanks to the emmergence of FAU and UL-Monroe's upset, I feel safe saying this)
11th-MAC
Also, just because a team is in the FCS instead of the FBS, doesn't mean that they are bad. I guarantee you, that if Appalachian, Delaware, or North Dakota State played in the FBS, they would make bowls. Also, North Dakota State has only been in FCS for 3 or 4 years and isn't even allowed to compete in thier playoffs yet

you must be a Pac 10 fan, therefore no matter what anybody says...you are going to read it with a biased eye
it is hard to take your answer seriously because it revolves around 1 year of football...they have been doing this thing for 100+
so I am a Buckeye fan
rating conference play today, but the differences are minimal between top and bottom
1. SEC
2. Big 12
3. Pac 10 (with Dixon)
4. Big 10
5. Big East
6. ACC
HISTORY
1. Big Ten
2. Pac 10
3. Big 12
4. SEC
5. ACC
6. Big East
but of course you won't agree, because you are reading with a biased eye

I predict that the Big 12 will do the best this postseason. The biggest ones will be Colorado and Kansas, those are the only teams I feel have a chance at losing their games. I feel very confident about the others, though.
Although the SEC looks like they will most of their games.

SEC. With the exception of Mississippi and Vanderbilt, competitive from top to bottom. No other conference is anywhere near as deep.

sec because of it's depth. it is not only top heavy but the middle teams can win anywhere any time.
big 12 was suprisingly good and deep this year too, but still sec by far.
just for fun:
sec: lsu, uga, tenn, fla, kentucky, arkansas, auburn, alabama?
big 12: okies, kansas, mizzou, texas, texas tech, aggies?

I will put it this way: the worst team in the sec(who is obviously better than Appalachian) could beat the best team in the big 10...but can the worst team in the big 10 beat the best team in the sec? i think not!
