Do they act the same as you? Do you have things in common? What's the deal...

Why must you all assume I have an alterior motive? LOL. I'm asking the question because in this section I think it's important to remind us that people are people. There's so much separatism going on that I think it's a good reminder to have friends that rather they be white, black, latino, asian, filipino etc, they all put their pants on one leg at a time. Catch my drift?

I certainly recognize that there is only one true race in the biological sense, however I'm using the term race in the common sense. If you want me to be wordy I could ask -- Do you have any friends of another race, ethnicity, nationality, heritage, or ancestry? How's that?

I don't care what skin color you are. What nationality your associated with. What religion you bow before. If I like ya, I like ya. All there is to it. To answer the question: Yes, I do. No they don't act the same as I do. We share quite a bit in common.

I've always gone to predominantly white schools so alot of my friends (including soon to be hubby) are white. I also have friends who are black, Latina, and Middle Eastern. I have one friend of Indian extraction, but unfortunately no Asian friends.
I'm friends with these people because we have alot in common. We like the same music, we like to read, we have similar political ties or at least accepting of the other's beliefs...
However, there are some things which I can talk about with my black friends that I don't with my friends of other races, because they just wouldn't understand. We are all college-educated women, but people treat me differently and have different expectations of me because I am a black women. For example, people will immediately make the assumption that I am less smart or that I don't know what they are talking about. My white friends who have never experienced that kind of discrimination, just would not understand.

Yes - my closest friend here is of a different race. Our personalities are similar and we have a lot of things in common i.e. common interests. We have the same taste in music, similar goals and priorities, are close in age and have the same sicko sense of humor. We are able to laugh together until we are in tears. Sure, there are some cultural differences, but that actually makes things interesting between us. We have learned a lot from each other.

I'm Puerto Rican (unsure which ancestry), Italian, Irish, and Polish (mostly PR/Italian) and my best friend is full Puerto Rican of Spaniard/Portugese and Taino heritage, my other best friend is Ecuadorian born in Venezeula (also of indigenous amerindian heritage).

My first best friend in kindergaten was Jewish. My two best friends in middle school were African-American and AA/Chinese respectively. In high school, i had two friends who were also Puerto Rican/Italian, let's see....other friends were Korean, Puerto Rican, Irish, Irish/Italian, Chinese, German, Jamaican, Ugandan, Egyptian, Indian, Japanese, Dominican, multi-ethnic, multi-racial I can go on......

What was in common? Let's see...tastes in music (rock, pop), friends of friends of friends, shared classes (gym, art, english)

Personality? Well some of them were outgoing, others very shy and quiet, some of them very sweet natured, others a little more negative, some of them very bright, others a little dense.

Types? A lot of them were rockers and goths, knew a few preps, band geeks, even a couple "ghetto homies". Others were foreigners, athletes, cheerleaders....

We all had two legs, we all spoke english, we all understood each other, we were all American or American citizens, we all got along, some of us still acknowledge each other even now that most of us are in college or some form of vocational school, others have moved and/or drifted away.

We all have souls. We all have spirits. We are all God's children no matter how different.

Does that help?

Being a world traveler I have the opportunity to converse with many people of different races. I have friends from Germany,
France, Korea(south), Spain, Holland and many other places.
I try to learn their customs/lifestyles and they embrace this with open arms. America has a history from 1776 while other
countries were around during Roman Times, this alone should thrill you to the bone.

I actually think this is a very good question. Most people look at me and assume I'm some kind of Nazi (I'm a white metalhead), when all of my friends are either Mexican, Hawaiian or Korean (only one of whom listens to heavy metal, by the way).

Just goes to show that we all really CAN get along!

Of course I have friends of other races and they don't necessarily always act the same as me and vice-versa. Yes, we have things in common. And to finish, what's the deal w/ this question?

Yeah I do, but mostly other people of color. Some have similar interests and other times we are different but we respect each other which is the most important thing.

I have such a diverse group of friends. We represent practically every ethnicity. We get along though, and have mostly the same interests. Interests have nothing to do with race though. It's your personal taste.
