Let him SLEEP! He'll most certainly wake up when he needs to eat. Allow him the enjoyment of learning to soothe himself by sucking his fingers...you'll be happy you did when he's a little older and can fall asleep on his own without too much fussing!

Sucking the fingers is just like thumb sucking or using dummies/pacifiers. It's a comfort thing, somehow makes them feel safe and secure. Unless baby has slept for longer then usual and past his feed time then you should not wake him up, he'll be much happier for getting all the sleep he needs and will wake on his own when he's hungry.

No no no!!! He's sucking his fingers for comfort. It's good that he's self soothing and is able to get himself back to sleep without you having to rock him etc. Well done!
If he's hungry, he will wake up. My baby sucks his thumb in his sleep and has since he was about 4 weeks old.

No, let him sleep. He will let you know when you are hungry. Many babies suck their fingers in the womb and keep doing it after they are born. Just a comfort thing.

Babies just like to suck their fingers. If you wake the baby you will get him/her to take it as a habit. So if I were you i wouldn't wake the baby...he/she will wake when hungry.

Natural thing. If baby was hungry, he would wake up and LET YOU KNOW! lol
seriously, if your feeding baby regularly, it is not a problem. Baby is just content. If really worried, call Dr office and ask the nurse.

how old is your baby? if they're a newborn, then i'm sure they'll wake up when they're hungry. otherwise, sucking their fingers is a way to soothe themselves. i wouldn't worry about it. you usually know when a baby's hungry - they'll tell ya!

No he is just sucking because he is content. My daughter had a dummy (given very reluctantly) and she used to hunt around the cot and bed for it if it dropped out of her mouth. i might add that it was done in her sleep

No. All babies got instinct to suck & suck all the time & hard! (some even more than others - hence Soothers/dummies) As long as he's feeding well at other times leave him be. (or give him soother if you don't mind these?)
