A lot of people are too self conscious to say for fear they may be asking for too much. Most people should know a few things they need that anyone can afford. It's Christmas for gawd sake....speak up people!!! When I was asked I gave everyone a list of 3 or 4 items I needed. It was easy! So if they aren't willing to say, the best thing to do is get them something functional. Something that anyone would tend to use on a daily basis. Gift cards are too easy and not very personal. So, since it's wintertime think of things like cotton thermal blankets (ooooo....cozy), scented candles, big boofy house socks, bath towels (you never have enough of those), flannel bed sheets, small kitchen appliances like coffee grinders and George Forman grills. Have fun with it and don't get frustrated. 99% of people are very easy to please when it comes to receiving gifts. So in answer to your question, no, it doesn't frustrate me, in fact, it makes it easier to shop! That way you don't have to run all over town trying to find a specific request! Happy Holidays!

I had to laugh when I read your question. Often times, their the most difficult to shop for. Gift cards work well from their favorite store. Or pick something you like. Let me explain.
My mother is one of those "I don't knows." So one year I decided to pick out a gift for her. I saw this glass bowl with a lovely plant coming out of the top and inside was a colorful beta fish swimming around. It was called "War and Peace." I bought it, and placed it in the car next to me. Mind you, I have a phobia when it comes to fish. As I walked up the driveway, she yelled,"I don't want that." So back in the car it went. I took it home and when anyone would ask me it's name I'd say"Hellofit, I'm keeping it for the hell-of-it." Good luck and Happy Holidays.

It does tend to frustrate but I think the reason is that they don't know how much you want to spend so they can't really give you suggestions. Maybe say "What would you like for around $50. (or whatever)

I feel the same way... if these people are on your list then you probably know them well enough to know what they like. Get them a giftcard to the mall so that they can pick out what they want.

It just shows that Americans live in a land of plenty. Most people have what they want or need. Just get them gift cards to places where you think they'd like to shop.

NO. I never ask what a person wants. And I normally don't give expensive gifts, but I try to be creative...it's the thought that counts. Chocolates, a book, something useful., etc.

No it doesnt annoy me. Think of it it in a positive way. That these people DO know what they want but they dont want to put you on the spot and make you feel you must get it for them

yes it would but , don't get angry just get what you think they would like and if they complain just tell them remember what you said when i asked you what you wanted instead of you coming out and telling me no matter what it was i would have worked something out to get it or i would have let you know if i didn't have it .So don't get upset just try your best and have some holiday spirit HAPPY HOLIDAYS and good luck with your shopping.

No, doesn't bother me at all....if they don't give me any concrete ideas about that they might enjoy, then the world is my oyster!!!! They can not cry or complain, since I asked them to give me a bit of help. My family now makes sure they are very specific about their wants or interests.

i would be frustrated because usually people surprise others with great gifts but if you ask them they should respond responsibly.I think it is very kind of you to give them the chance to tell you what they want. But if you ask them don't you agree with me that they should at least tell you things they like?I agree with you about getting the same answers and totally understand.I think its very genouruse that you would ask them what they wanyt for christmas!Happy holidays :)!
