In 2006 they collected $31 million in revenue sharing, spent only $15 million on salary and made a profit of $41 Million. Their payroll for next season looks like it will be less than $9 million at this point. Should the owners be allowed to just pocket money instead of putting it into a new stadium or use it to get some players?

The last two CBAs, wherein revenue sharing was first enacted and then revised a bit, state that RS dividends should be used to improve the product on the field. But it does not define any specifics, nor are there any sanctions for failing to do so.

So it is a toothless policy, one which no one yet has seen a need to revisit and install any enforcement mechanisms.

So, Loria and such ilk get to soak up huge gobs of RS money and do whatever with it.

It isn't a very good policy, but it is a Seligula policy, so that's to be expected.

Thats the system, thats what it was designed to do, and thats what you have to live with.

Personally, I think they're trying to move the Marlins out of Miami area where they can get a better stadium deal.

The Marlins ownership is one of the worst in the league, just like Minnesota's (I feel for you Twins fans!!)

They shouldn't be allowed to just pocket that money, cheap bastards, how did they ever win 2 WS and my M's have ZERO??

They should not be allowed to pocket money. This money should be used on the team payroll or towards a new stadium.

The marlins and Rays should be contracted. Baseball would be better. The talent wouldn't be so diluted.

It would be pretty shortsighted to have a minimum cap in baseball without a maximum cap.

If you can get the max one done, I'd be sure to support the minimum one.
