I live in melbourne and am interested in finding information sources about properties in Australian cities going through pre-foreclosure.

I have done an exhaustive search. In the US there are pre foreclosure listing servies and you can get records from courts. I am not getting any luck in Australia

I'm not from 'Down Under', but let me tell you how I got info on pre-reposessed cars.

I went to banks and spoke with a higher officer (vice-president). These are the guys who are assigned 'problem cases'... loans in default. Whether it's real estate or a vehicle, they WANT to resolve it before they have to spend money on it or the owner trashes it. (I got a good car by simply taking over the payments. It needed brakes and an exhaust, so I got a reduced interest rate.)

If you do a little leg work AND find the right person (in charge of delinquent loans), you can get a deal. Plus you don't have to pay a middle-man.

Good luck and Merry Christmas from the USA!

i don't think you can.

i'm a possible first homebuyer in perth - due to the ridiculous increase in housing costs and i've looked this up as well - although i did feel a little uncomfortable preying on other people's misfortune.

maybe it's something to do with privacy legislation. ie, if you do get an address of a home being foreclosed, you can find out the name of the owner through the dept of land administration. i don't think that would sit well in our current privacy protected environment.
