I've been legally married to my ex who lives in Great Britian. However, we have been legally seperated for almost seven years. Yes, seven years he lives there I live here. I went to a lawyer for a divorce and he told me I would have to hire a International Immigration divorce lawyer. When I went to see one it was over four thousands dollars for a divorce to a man I haven't seen in six years. Isn't there like a law that if you been legally seperated for so many years you could be considered divorced. Kinda like common law marriage, but divorce? If there is such a thing does anyone know what it is called?

Excuse me but I loved him at one time. Alot of people pass judgement on things that they have no idea over. I left him because he became physically abusive if you must know. I loved him way before any of the abuse started. So before you pass rude judgements make sure you know the whole story.

Do you want to know why divorces cost so much?

Because they are worth it.

Unfortnately, it doesn't matter how long you two have been separated. You won't be considered divorced from him until you actually file for divorce, and deal with all the legal issues, and it is decreed by a judge. You can check with the local courthouse and see if they have any suggestions, or have any aid that they can offer you to help get the divorce, but being that its international, I'm not sure if thats possible. Hope things work out for you....

No, I'm afraid. You're either going to have to pay an astronomical amount to get a divorce or remain married. Sorry hun.

Are we supposed to be mind-readers here or something? You post a question, don't tell the "whole story", and then get on people's cases for passing judgment. WTF?
