Elevations/Terrain lesser waterways and bodies of water are more likely to be defined on a physical map as opposed to a political map which is more concerned with national borders.

A political map shows borders and national boundaries, names of nations, cities, etc.
A physical map shows mountain ranges, elevations, possibly climate data, rivers, bodies of water, deserts, coast lines, etc.
