No, we are banned and it's illegal. If we go anyway via a flight through Jamaica or Canada, and we get stuck there, nobody came come get us.

It is illegal for US citizens to go there without special permission. You can check the state department's site:

Because of the whole communism feud we had with Cuba since the 50's.

Beardo is absolutely correct, so not much need to elaborate. US citizens can leave Cuba and US citizens can enter Cuba. But there has to be special permission for certain circumstances, but it is allowed. There is so much propaganda. Look at the link below to help you understand a little more...

But you're Canadian, so the US situation won't be a concern for your travels there to Cuba. You are going to thoroughly enjoy Cuba! And you will want to keep going back.
The people are wonderful, warm, kind and hospitable. The beaches are one of the best beaches in the world. And the island itself on a whole is beautiful. There is so much culture and history.
Have a wonderful time wherever you end up travelling to in Cuba.

US residents are supposed to get permission from OFAC before they go to Cuba - and that is not available for tourists. (But many congressmen, governors and even Jimmy Carter have been to visit Cuba.)

And KaDy - not only is it NOT illegal for Cubans to visit the US, there is actually a special law (the Cuban Adjustment Act) that says that if a Cuban remains in the US for a year they are automatically entitled to apply for residency. No other nationality has that right.

There are flights every day between Havana and Miami.

There is the US interests section in Havana to deal with the problems of US citizens in Cuba - even those who visit illegally.

The answer to the question why would you want to go there is that its beautiful from what I hear and pictures I've seen. The answer to are we allowed to go there, well, civillians can go there, but there are no flights from the US to cuba because we're mad at them. Military can go to guantanamo(fun).

Only on special wavors approved by the State Department. So practically, no. But, one of my coworkers did get to study there in college. She loved the experience. Like every other country, there are things to love and hate.

Absolutely NOT. American citizens are banned from Cuba, as well as Cuba natives are banned from the US. Why would you want to go there? Go to Puerto Rico if you want somewhere in that location. PR is amazing

in the event that they are going to blockade it, they ought to have saved the ships around it and saved something from going there. in the event that they do no longer opt to try this, it makes little experience to punish US voters for travelling.
