Is it not war?

Thanks for some great answers. . . . .
W/ the whole "the meek shall inherit the earth" thing though. . . could you break that down into what it literally means.
I don't belive I fully understand the idea of it.

So, is true world peace impossible to acheive? Is that a bad thing?

Not exceeding the carrying capacity of a given body of land (or the earth). Meaning, when there are too many people in a given area, there aren't enough resources so people begin to fight over them.

I know that the Conservatives out there will think I'm some sort of Liberal tree hugger, but it's true, there is only so many resources to go around. So once the resources are overtaxed (by overpopulation), wars are a form of population control.

And for all the Liberals who think that I am some sort of cold-hearted war-mongering Conservative, well isn't the whole premise of the current major Liberal cause of "global warming" that there are just too many people? Wars are a form of population control, reduced population should go a long way at reducing humanity's "carbon footprint".

So yes, the real answer to world peace IS war. And if you look at the history of mankind, we have been at war much more than we have been at peace (just look at ancient Greece, they were always at war, with someone, usually themselves).

When we realize and understand the oneness of humanity and all that implies, we will have the foundation for building lasting peace. Oneness is the prerequisite for justice which is the prerequisite for unity. Unless and until our unity is firmly established there can be no peace. The question asked of us is, what can we do to establish the oneness of humanity. First, we can educate ourselves as to what it really means and implies, then ally ourselves with like-minded individuals who are diligently working to help all understand the essential role of the oneness of humanity to building and sustaining peace and are training folks in the essential skills for community and social transformation.

Peace is inevitable. Whether it comes through collective will and action for change or whether devastating circumstances force it on us depends upon how long we sit on our rears and merely chat about how nice or impossible it would be. I suspect the latter, but I'd be delighted to be wrong.

To have world peace would must change the basic roots of all humans.
As in greed, lust, hate, anger, jealousy and yes hope.
Why hope many wars are found on the hope war will make it better.

So world peace is a pipe dream.

Do you think any of us can answer that complicated question? Wars do result in a kind of peace, but history shows it is only a temporary situation. How can you control GREED? Money and power and religion seem to be why people kill each other.
