Am having a second child - don't know the gender (but will be finding out). I am interested in ideas for names that match well with the baby's older sister's name: Caroline. Some criteria (I know, I know):

-Classic, but not the in top 20 in popularity
-Easy to spell and pronounce (my hang up b/c my name isn't)
-If it also starts with C, can't be too cutesy a combo
-If it doesn't start w/ C, would prefer not to use an A or B name (yes, for some reason, my world would be off balance if my kids' names didn't chronologically fall in alpha order - feel free to mock me, gently).
-Am using a family last name as a middle name, so the first name has to be pretty solid to balance it out.
-Oddly, I like multiple syllables for a girl and one syllable for a boy.

Would love any ideas, especially from those of you who can navigate my hormone-driven criteria!!

lol love that you have a list of criteria all made out! Anyway, I absolutely love the name Caroline - sweet, classic, and really pretty. I wouldn't use another C name, if only because really any other C name would be way too cutesy for me (alliteration really isn't my thing). Besides, there are 25 (well, 23 lol) other letters to choose from, so why not? And I would do the same as you - no A or B names either lol. Oh, and I definitely wouldn't use names like Madeline, Adeline, Rosaline, etc (similar endings bother me, even names like Sara and Lilah together).

Names that could go well with Caroline if she has a sister are: Julia, Olivia, Lily, Lilah, Jessamine (though the -ine might be pushing it), Linette, Eva/Eve, Penelope Kate, Rosamund, Sophie, Iris, Ivy, Jeanette, Avery, Veronica, Eloise, Eleanor, Elise, Eliza, (really, any El- name lol I would love - the nickname Ellie is adorable), Mathilde/Matilda (Mattie, Tilly, Tilda), Natalie (Tally), Darcy, Miranda (Mira, Mia), Violet, Emma/Emilia, Mia, Freya, Georgia (Georgie, Gia), Suki, Sadie, Greta, Fiona (Finn), Grier, Georgette, etc.

For a boy: Henry, Logan, Nickolas/Nicholas, Frederick (Freddie), Oliver, James, Wesley, Milo, Thomas, Hugo, Erickson, Theodore (Teddy, Theo), Tate, George, Shane, Dane, Jackson/Jack, Jacoby/Jake, Finley, Marcus, Gordon, Keaton (Keat), Keith, Griffin/Griffith, Grant, Troy, Nathanael/Nate, Hugh, Samson, Samuel, Guy, Lucas, Isaac, August, Matthew, Julian/Julius, etc.

I really love the sound of Caroline and Julia, Caroline and Miranda, Caroline and Rosamund, and Caroline and Eleanor, as well as Caroline and Lucas (Luke), Caroline and Logan, Caroline and Nickolas, Caroline and Gordon, and Caroline and Theodore.

If you don't like any of my suggestions, try www.nymbler.com - type in names you already like, like Caroline and her middle name, and up will come tons more in a similar style.

Good luck and congrats!!
