Is it legal to build a street legal car from the ground up in michigan? Like all original, not just combining two junk cars.

sure you can but it will have to be inspected and a title gotten for it, you will have to check with the bureau of motor vehicles on how to get a title for it.

If you're "building" a stock car using stock parts, then you have no problems so long as everything meets you states vehicle standards for driving a vehicle of that year. For example: If in 1970-1974 and cars didn't need back-up light and you're building a stock 1973 car, then you wouldn't need back-up lights on the car. Just to be on the safe side, I'd put back-up lights in were I doing the re-building.

So you want to be a Henry Ford huh? it's very difficult for to do this today because of the government regulations involving design and safety. When Henry Ford built his own car back in 1895 when people were still riding carriages and horses and it was very safe to do then. I am sure it's possible if you have all the equipment and pass the inspections. Just mind your own safety.

Legal - Yes, provided you follow guidelines and inspection procedures.
Logical - No, it would cost more to buy all the parts than to buy the car already assembled.
