is it bad to have too much of one element or too much of just one sign in a birth chart? isn't variety better? i'd imagine having all 4 elements would make it easier to get along with people.

i know someone who has sun, moon, mercury, mars, venus, saturn all in aries and she's quite childish and a little too confidant. (just an example).

what do you think? is this a curse or blessing?

Well everyone must have a shadow, and the astrological chart is really a picture of a psychological map. It tells us information that is going to be conscious and what is going to be unconscious. If you see a chart with an enormous amount of planets in fire, but no planets in earth, you can gleam alot of information from it. This individual is going to live in his fantasy life, intuition, and imagination, and the physical realm (work, money, career) is going to be very difficult for them to develop.

It is both a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because we can easily find out using Astrology what we need to work on. It is a curse, because its usually the thing that annoys us the most that we have to work on.

Storm

and why is it that some people who have a totally different chart act exactly the same?! Somebody hinted at what I think to be the best answer; people live through different circumstances. In the Nature vs Nature debate, the only definitive answer is that both are very important to the final outcome. So let's take your two girls for an example. Let's pretend the artistic talent is from a venus in pisces placement...both girls have this placement, but perhaps one has parents that are involved in the arts (maybe a drumming father and a singing mother). Let's just assume that the other girl's parent don't have this involvement, perhaps they are scientists or economists or something like that. The environments that these two girls grow up in will probably have an impact on their development, don't you suppose? It might be that if they switched families, the roles would be flip-flopped. At any rate, let's pretend the former girl has a brother who has a considerably different chart...his venus, for hilarity's sake, is in leo, let's say... It wouldn't be outrageous that he has artistic talents also, given that his parents are probably fostering creativity in their children. Maybe there's something in terms of psychoanalytic differentiation/individuation and identification there. The point is, it's not as if the chart will show if there is talent or skill or ability in the person. Talent and skill and ability are inherent to ALL people. What the chart CAN do, is offer up some insight as to how a person's creative energies, or talents and skills might manifest. If you were to dig up charts of your favorite musicians, you would find all kinds of placements of the planets...their musical talent isn't the product of their astrological makeup; their astrological makeup merely points to the ways in which their musical talents might reveal themselves, or point to the circumstances that will ease their musical expression. You're absolutely right that people can read into anything enough to make it apply to them, and the same can be done the other way too. With the powers of Human Reason, we can readily trick or convince ourselves of just about anything. And we all do this all the time. Religion and Science are equally guility...and all of us are constantly buying in regardless. As for food and travel, I DO love good food, but travel is often very upsetting to me. So I am the exception to your rule I suppose. Fitting for an Aquarius, perhaps. ;) And pleasepleaseplease, no BS hatin' y'all. Let's actually have the conversation instead of just flinging turds...aren't we supposed to be the evolved mammalian beings?! Being too dumb to understand is never a one-way street.

i think that having your whole chart in one sign would make you a little usable and i think it would make you have over-exaggerated traits of that sign.
