CO2 and other harmful gasses are emitted into the atmosphere, as it condensates and rains back into the ocean or other bodies of water, CO2 turns the water into acid. Water is a neutral substance. pH from 1-14 H2O is 7, however as the pH drops the ocean or other bodies of water becomes more acidic. Some bodies of water have been measured as low ~4pH that is bad. That is enough to kill marine life and plankton (what marine ecosystems depend on). as the ocean and other bodies of water again evaporate this acidic water into the atmosphere, condensates and rains down more CO2 then you have Acid rain, which begins killing plant life on land and some smaller animals because the ground water is no good anymore. Water pollution kills!
