The United States, England, France, and Russia have enough nuclear weapons to dramatically change the climate of the earth. There are not enough bombs to blow the earth to pieces but there certainly are enough to really screw up human civilization, potentially creating a "nuclear winter" where the amount of dust and smoke in the atmosphere reduces the sunlight to the extent that many plants would die, animals would die, and lots of the people left would starve. Some people continue to work on biological weapons which could potentially cause a worldwide fatal illness (a pandemic) that would kill a large portion of all humans (or kill a large portion of the human food supply).
There are other things that could cause world destruction including the possibility of a meteor large enough to blow the earth to pieces.
Not exactly fun things to think about but it is a good reason to care about who runs our country (voting is important).
I hope this helps

currently no. Humans can be responsible for the destruction af any number of species (including humans) and the current environmental balance. But as far as destroying planets, no. Theoretically, if even one type of lifeform was left on the earth (cockroaches say, after a nuclear war) evolution would kick in and they would evolve in different forms to take advantage of the new "ecological niches", or gaps, left by the destruction of everything else alive.
Well, they would need food too. So cockraches, and some plants survive the nuke holocaust.

the earth (and its life) will way outlast man. Think about it for a second, a huge asteroid crashed AT LEAST twice (moon creation; demise of the dinosaurs) and the earth kept on going. What can we puny little insignificant creatures do to outdo the impact of those events? I will admit that we can cause some serious disruptions, but in the long run it won't matter, there will still be life on earth and the earth will still be here, for a long long time into the future. Whether we are also here is a separate question and is by no means guaranteed.

Yes, and we are in that process at this time.
