I could never give up books, they have brought a lot of education and learning and joy into my life. When I was a young teen I read some books about the Easter Seals Society, started doing volunteer work for them. This had lead me to pursue multiple college degrees and become a teacher of special needs children and adults.
Television has its good points, but my family and I do not have cable TV, there are not enough great TV shows that we can learn that much from and we enjoy reading, playing games and being outside in nature more than we enjoy TV.
This question should get a lot of different and interesting answers.
Have a Merry Christmas.

I would get rid of books first because now, everything you can read is televised. You can spend two weeks reading a book or spending six dollars and mabey three hours to know the same thing. The book only has some details that are not important enough to put on tv anyway.

Television. Books are hard evidence that humans existed and had some form of intelligence and communications. When aliens archaeologists dig up TVs they'll just wonder what the heck they are and why the hell there are so many.

Television of course....Because it burns your braincells. You normally don't learn anything it is a place you don't have to think. Reading helps you learn about new things..So I would get rid of the television=) But that is just my humble opinion=)

Television. Books are better; they leave more to the imagination.

many people (myself included :P) are wasting time away in front of the tv... but reading, even if the book is as pointless as the show, is at least better for your mind and does not damage yours eyes if you read too close. (news can still be publicized via radio, magazines and newspapers.)
