well alot of reptiles don't need it exactly from the sun so yes i would say it is good as long as it has the d3... You don't need it, if it is getting enough from the diet so i say yes go for the UVB drops.

Absolutely NOT! Reptiles can be tricky to keep, and chameleons are among the most difficult. They MUST have UVB reptile bulb in order to metabolize calcium properly. The drops will not do this, so don't be fooled. Just keep in mind that those expensive UVB bulbs should be changed every 6 months as they lose potency rather quickly--even though they will continue to produce visible light for a much longer time.

Most vets suggest you give a calcium supplement, and a uvb bulb.... Most vets also suggest that you dont give d3... That it some how differs from the actual d3 that the lizard makes on its own... Check out uvb bulbs on amazon.com, thats where I buy mine... 20 usd a pop, shipping included... also do not use the compact uvb bulbs (they cause skin and eye damage) florecent tubes are good as long as you place them no more than 7'' abouve the basking site... also they make a heat/uvb for 40 usd at reptileuv.com they are called a mega ray... I like those too.... but you have to place them a foot or more away from your lizard at all times to avoid burns.....

Liquid UVB is a fancy name for a calcium supplement with vitamin D3.

Do you still need UVB light for a chameleon even if you have it?
absolutely yes.
So what does it do then? absolutely nothing important 4 chameleon.

Use reptiSUN 5.0 tube (NOT THE COMPACT ONE)
if you plan to keep the chameleon indoor all the time then you need the UVB and repcal (calcium supplement with D3)

if you plan to keep it outdoor, then a supplement with D3 can be fatal for your chameleon. As sunlight allows your chameleon to produce D3 on its own.. adding a supplement of D3 can cause your chameleon get hyper vitaminosis.

No, they don't work.

They do not replace the UVB bulb and I don't know how they can get away with saying so.

Using those drops instead of light will KILL your reptile.

However, the drops are a good supplement for getting new imports or rescued herps up to speed. I have a well stocked supply Hydro-life , repti-aid and solar UVB for this purpose.

No medication or supplement will ever replace the much needed nutrients that a proper UVB lamp helps.
The liquid UVB drops is only a supplement for calcium.
It won't help them utilize the nutrients they need.

Try looking at www.LLLReptile.com for some good prices on UVB lights.
