Iowa is a news producer and media salespersons dream. I very strongly wish new party would start and make Iowa second after Rode Island, but we are stuck with what we have,. Iowa is first state to choose candidates to major two parties conventions. This year more than any other this person can remember it has more meaning. When Obama wins Iowa stronger than expected independents in New Hampshire may vote for him, and even if he comes close to winning in that state the race is open.

often the states that are close to to 50/50 on the votes are the states that are observed as being significant. somewhat a number of the states have greater electoral votes than Iowa, however the analysts already have a exceedingly stable theory of which candidate will get carry of those votes. so as that they are asserting Iowa (or any state wherein they might't verify the voting consequence for) is significant seeing it extremely is an not sure state. In an in depth presidential race, the candidate who wins the main electoral votes from the not sure states would possibly be the eventual winner and our next President of usa.

The Iowa Caucus is the first in the series of primaries and caucuses before an election. Whoever comes out on top in this election often signals who will take the lead in the election.
In addition, who ever wins the most delegates in Iowa will get the most media attention, which often effects voting trends.

It gives a first indication of how the candidates are doing... But it's not an absolute predictor by any means.
