I am stuck on which university to attend next year. Syracuse has cold weather, but great academics and Arizona has hot weather, but I am not sure if the reputation is the same. Both have solid sports and I am possibly looking to major in retail and overall have a good time. HELP

Im from California, and play a lot of Halo 3. The other day I was playing with this guy who is currently at U of A , and he was really happy with it. He said the social scene was fantastic, and told me that he was having an awsome time there. The school has a great campus, and pretty good academics, but I dont see how you could turn down Syracuse. Syracuse is one of the top institutions in the nation, with some of the most respected professors in the nation. To break it down, if you want to have a pretty good, chill, partying college college experience consider Arizona, but if you are more interested in graduating with a very prestigious bachelor degree Syracuse is your best bet.

P.S-A lot of people from my school that went to Arizona came back after 1 year because its partying is too intense. But theres different strokes for different folkes.

The University of Arizona is the best university in the state -- but there are two things you should consider. First -- while U of A is better than ASU, ASU actually has the better business school. The second is that if you threw a dart at the map of the US, you are more likely than not to hit a state with a better public university than Arizona.

Syracuse is a far superior school. Academics -- not their sports program -- is what matters most.

The big negative with Syracuse isn't the cold weather -- it is tha orange is their school color.

My sister attended the University of Arizona and loved it. If it's the cold weather that is attracting you to Syracuse, then you're not really looking at the college itself. Trust me, whatever activities you can do in cold weather you can do in Arizona (it's not hot all year round!). U of A is academically competitive and Tucson always has fun stuff to do.

If you're not sure about the school- any school- give them a call or send them an email saying that you're interested in the place. The school will be happy to give you a tour and answer all of your questions and let you get to know the campus a bit.

Syracuse has a MUCH better reputation than U Arizona--it's barely even comparable. Get some warm clothes and go to SU.

To be fair, I'm from the West Coast, but I can't think of anything that would make me want to attend Syracuse. Go to Arizona, you can ski, you can romp in the desert, you can zip over to Vegas, you can go to Sedona and relax, and if you plan to live west of the Mississippi a degree from U of A will open plenty of doors for you.

And, the students at U of A are far better looking than they are at Syracuse.

PS: I'm not an alum, I went to USC.

Good Luck.

They are soooo far away from each other...

I should say, you need to consider your future. A university close to the major job market of what you want to learn is always a good idea. For example, If you wanna be a computer engineer, a university in CA is better than NY, while most biotech companies located in NJ, its a better place for bioengineering major.
