That life is such a cool journey...
and that the journey is more important than the destination most of the time...
That sometimes what you thought would make you happy doesn't make you happy after all...
That I can take care of myself...
That I have only a few friends but they are people who would really stand up for me when the going gets tough...

How the young never listen to the older folks.
I've been on both sides of this now, now that I'm an "older folk", and it surprises me how an older person in your life can tell you something that their experience has taught them, but the younger folks don't heed, don't listen and go on and everything turns out just as the older person said it would.
If the younger folks would listen, it would save them such heartache, not to mention money, etc.
Everyone has to learn for themselves, but what good is learning it if no one but you benefits from it?

The friendships that form along the way and make life worth living. I never expect them to happen but when they do happen they are magnificent. Like a cherry on the top of your sundae. You have to appreciate the little things in life.
