Yes, the answerer above is right. The extrusive igneous rock obsidian is essentially a natural glass. There are other igneous rocks, like pumice, tuff, and scoria, that are mostly glass as well, but can also contain large air bubbles and tiny crystals of minerals.

yeah... the two above answers are right
obsidian is an igneous rock - it has a glass like feeling because the crystals never formed
it was shot out of an exploding volcano and directly into water - the water instantly cooled it and therefore no crystals had any time to grow before it became solidified.
