The windows firewall is switched off automatically every time I switch on my PC, manually I need to turn it on everytime I start my computer. Is there a way out to keep the firewall on by default.

If you are running another firewall software ,it may disable windows firewall to avoid conflict.

I don't know of any firewall that turns off when you turn off your pc. (A firewall as to be turned off by the user). You must have a virus that is shutting down your firewall. I would suggest that you run your anitvirus & antispyware you have installed. Perform an indepth scan.

If you don't have an antivirus here is a free one that will give you auto. updates on the hour and background scanner.\

Or you can download the free version of Superantispyware. This progream is known to find what all other miss. You will get auto. updates daily.

Plus you don't say what firewall you are using. Not that it makes much of a difference, because no firewall shuts down when you shut down your pc.

xenias's reply is most likely what is happening. You have a third party firewall such as Zone Alarm, McAfee, Norton or other that is automatically turning off Windows firewall. Which is GOOD.

It is OK to have a hardware firewall (like built into router) and a software firewall but
NOT TWO software firewalls.

I would look for a virus that's turning it off... possibly something that's running at boot time.
