Latara is so stupid that she doesn't know how to spell "what".

I've heard the Kalahari Bushmen have no word for snow...so some people may not know what it is. Eskimos, on the other hand have something like 45 words for the stuff. That means there must be lots of kinds of snow.

Snow, as someone pointed out, is frozen water in a crystalized form. However it comes down in several forms.

Wet and Dry are the most common tyes that fall. Some snow is wetter and some is drier. The drier the snow, the lighter it will be. Wet snow tend to be heavy and compresses on the ground a lot more.

Then there is snow that is already on the ground.....that comes in lots of forms.

Powder is the light dry stuff that skiers love.

Corn is packed powder that has melted and frozen again to make small pellet shaped clusters...this is also goood skiing snow.

Ice...very hard snow that melted and re-froze into a large solid mass. Only the best skier can safely ride it. (Utah residents have no idea what this is and that's why they are woosy skiers.)

Packed Powder...a ski resorts euphamism for Ice.

Granular...Similar to corn, but usually has smaller clusters. Most common at areas with man made snow.

Death Cookies...snow/ice clusters/clumps found on the sides of trails usually left or kicked out by snow groomers.

Corduroy...groomed snow that looks like...corduroy.

Slush (Slop)...wet slushy snow.

Wash...Very dirty, muddy slush. More often refers to what is happening to the snow (washout) than the snow itself. (ie. I just skied through that wash.

Then we have to look at the word as used as a verb....

"It's gonna snow!"...ergo, the process of snowing.

"I got snowed."....ripped off, lied to, bamboozled, etc. (Also refers to getting a "snow-job."

"Snowed In." Literally...you can't get the hell out of the house,
