They rejected their parents materialistic views and believed in love and flower power. They thought they could make a simpler existence sharing things and freely loving others. It almost sounds to me like Christianity without Jesus.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. It degenerated from early idealism to a haze of sex, drugs and rocknroll!!

the hippies were against the war in vietnam that we weren't originally a part of. They were also very against the draft, but they had peaceful ways of demonstrating their values and opinions.

in peace and love, they did believe in God but he was a guy with long hair who wore hippie stuff! does that clear it up for u?

If you did enough drugs the world wouldn't bother you so much. Many liberals should give that a try. They are an uptight bunch.
