Just locate the file using Explorer and right-click on top of the file and from the menu you should have a selection to Scan With Norton Antivirus.

If you open the file on your desktop that you want scanned, you will see an icon for Nortons. All my secuirty has an icon on each file I have in my system. When I open the file I can scan that one file if I so desire.

to scan one file - right click on the file - a small window should pop up - in there - click on - scan ... for virus

to scan more than one file (in one folder) - click once on a file - this should highlight it blue (or a dark shade) - next - hold down the Ctrl key (on the keyboard) and using your mouse - left click on the next file (and any other files you want scanned)
once you have all the files you want scanned - you can let go of the Ctrl key at this point - next - right click with your mouse on any of those highlighted files - a window will pop up - and then left click on the - scan .. for viruses
