I think my gecko has shed and his toes are still white. he has lost one toe in the past and I dont want it to happen again.
He has a humid hide and heat but it seems colder in his tank during the winter. how can I help him with shedding?
I was thinking of putting him in one of those "cricket keepers for an hour with a moist paper towel on the bottom and turn on his heat light for moisture, as I've heard this works, but it seems almost cruel as my gecko hates to be inside it and always tries to get out even though its one of those "large" cricket keepers. what do you think?

Ummm... I have crested geckos and when they have this problem we give them a warm bath(they aren't awesome swimmers so we have to hold them in the water- don't let him go under!) The iguana on the other hand- Is an Awesome swimmer and loves to be in the bath!!! Usually though it just takes a little longer to get it off of their feet- he'll probably be fine!

We need to know what kind of gecko you have- every species differs!

Are you using an under tank heater? They must have this. The heater should be plugged into a thermostat or dimmer switch so the temp can be adjusted. The temp at floor level should be 88-91F. Use a digital probe thermometer for accurate measurement. Make sure his moist hide is on the heated side. For now, place him in a shallow container of warm water for 15 minutes, twice a day, until the skin on his toes is loose enough to gently remove with a moistened q-tip.
