people packing heat of their own? Any shooter won't go into an area he knows people are allowed to carry...and signs saying "oh, guns banned here" is definitely NOT going to stop a gunman, so what gives?

Completely agree. I'd just carry the gun anyway, **** the law. A few years in jail is better than being dead.

Not completely. There's the possibility that some people would've been shot before someone else responded. Owning a gun doesn't automatically give you the courage to actually place yourself in danger to aid another person. Of course then there's the possibility that there could be wild random shots and that could mean random people getting hit.
Personally, anyone carrying a gun legally should have to periodically qualify with it like a police officer.
I mean being able to hit center mass.

Yes, it happens sometime. But you will never hear about in the mainstream media. I have A CWP, and carry regularly. If faced with this situation I know exactly what to do, tell my family to take cover, and if the nut gets close to me and mine, fire three shots into his center mass. Notice I would not go gunning for him, that is the job of the police, who by the way never seem to be there when these things happen. Not a knock on the cops at all, just trying to get people to think....

Actually Omaha passed a law not to long ago allowing concealed weapons unless otherwise noted. I have not paid attention to the signs in the mall to see their rules on them, but I haven't noticed signs to keep them out. So it's highly possible he could have caused a lot more damage. I agree with the signs not working as well. If you really don't want guns in a store or place of business you should have metal detectors and cops to keep them out. But Conceal and Carry IS legal in Omaha Nebraska unless otherwise noted, so there might have been other people with guns in the mall today.

No. It one thing to carry a weapon but another to be able to recognize such situations like these shootings for what they really are. Most people don't have that kind of training and could panic or misjudge when they are put into that situation. What we need to do instead is keep guns out of the hands of people with a history of mental instability or substance abuse. This shooting incident sounds like yet another instance of an angry young man with emotional problems taking out his rage on innocent bystanders.

that's right, if people think you're packing heat people will less likely bother you or any one else for that matter. people kill, guns don't. democrats are always screaming more gun laws outlaw guns, but i say we have enough laws just in force the ones we have.

No, that wouldn't stop it but there would have been fewer victims because a few would have fired back after the first shots were fired. The bad guy would have offed himself sooner, a good thing.

No. Too many people have been shot dead by their own guns. A situation like this one can nver be avoided. I don't care how many "guards" there are, or how many "Police" there are. A nut with a gun goes unnoticed until he goes off. You can not prevent it.
