i was wondering why it takes longer than it should to discontinue the same wrong actions even though it gets us in trouble everytime? Like why do people get in trouble for the same action over and over again and it take so long to realize maybe i should stop?

Well, with some people they don't receive a lot of attention so when they get attention they want to keep on getting more so they do the same thing over.
And some people just think its a joke and doesn't matter. Maybe they like getting in trouble even if they don't admit it.

sometimes it is because a person does not consider it a mistake. A women who keeps getting into abusive relationship can think it is the guy's fault for being abusive without realizing that she picked him and has to rethink her position rather than to continue to pick the wrong type of guy and get counseling to deal with that in order to break the cycle. As long as we don't realize that change is necessary to avoid repeating mistakes we are going to repeat them.

My husband seems to think that I make the same mistakes over and over again because, for whatever reason, I am not truly committed to changing my behavior despite the trouble it continually gets me into. Sometimes I think it's fear or lack of faith as well.

They are not viewing their life as a learning experience.
They are assuming that all will work out, as long as they are alive & breathing. idk
Seems silly not to live & learn to me.

Some people genuinely have mental issues/ chemical imbalances that prevent them from NOT repeating their mistakes, over & over.

maybe because we are still looking for the same thing over and over, and we keep thinking we found it. when we have a strong inner need we tend to lose sight with reality and with lessons learned.
