I don't really believe in ghosts, but there was this time (a time when I did believe in ghosts) I was spending the night at a friend's house. The house is over 150 years old, and was rumored to be haunted. That being the case, I never wanted to be by myself.
One night, we were playing video games (Mario Kart, to be exact), and after not-too-long I realized I was the only one awake. Being as late as it was (almost 5am), and against my instincts, I decided it was time to call it a night and turn off the TV -- the only source of light in the room.
I laid down on the couch, and not a minute later I heard this strange buzzing sound, followed by "BONG! BONG! BONG! BONG! BONG!" It turned out to be just the grandfather clock, but it still scared the crap out of me.
After I calmed down and started to get comfortable, I started to feel a tingly feeling in the back of my neck & on my head -- my hair was standing up. Seconds later, I hear a strange moaning sound coming from the foot of the couch. The sound oscillated kinda like a siren, but it was off-key, almost like an opera singer imitating a police siren. I looked at where it was coming from, and there was nobody there. Had there been, I would've seen their sillouette against the window. It lasted for about 30 seconds, and I just pretended to be dead the entire time. I still don't know what that was.

I was talking to a friend once over at their house. It was night and we were outside talking (it was in the country). During the middle of our convo. we stopped and looked at each other cause we both heard a noise. Someone or an animal was running towards us from a field. We could hear it breathing and running. Animals run away from people, not toward them so I'm hoping it was just a neighbor playing a joke. We took off running for the house ourselves and never found out what it was.
Another time I was in the garage when I heard some one in the kitchen, and the noise stopped behind me at the door and started in the hall again. Nobody else was home, and that wasn't an animal.

Not really anything but ironic, but here it goes. My friend and I were laying in bed talking about scary movies and I was telling a story about this evil little creature that sucked out people's souls while they slept. This monster was about a foot tall with razor sharp teeth and beady red eyes. Anyway, midway through telling my friend about this terribly scary movie her bedroom door creaks open, we expected her mom to tell us to go to sleep, but there wasn't anybody there. We slept with the light on and told her parents the next day about it, her dad said that the house was just settling and that the other doors open on there own too.

Everyone thinks I'm crazy but an angel came to me one night when I was very tired from being awake all night with a sick baby. Over my left shoulder was this white glowing face with no real features. With very soft calming voice it said "you are a good mommy for sitting up with your baby while she is sick". Weird part is those words were not spoken out loud but I heard them in my head. Then as fast as it was there it was gone. It gave me the strength to make it through the rest of the night. I was not afraid at all, it was very peaceful. I swear on my life that is a true story. Doesn't matter if anyone else believes me...I know it happened.
