Marleys chain is made of cash-boxes, keys, padlocks, ledgers, deeds, and heavy purses wrought in steel.. it represented the things Scrooge land Marley iked but Marley had them stuck to him for being stingy

The differences between Scrooge and Marley is that Marley is dead and Scrooge is not

Marley wanted a chance of hop to change Scrooge so he was going to recieve 3 spirits present, past, and future

The chains represent that since he was as greedy as Scrooge while he was alive, it is a metaphore saying that he was punished for his sins in life. Sort of like hell, I guess.

To add to Bella's answer, they were made of cash boxes and other assorted items related to money. You should read the story.. it's a damn fine one.
