back 150 years ago if any one was raped woman child ect the person hung for it, if you murdered someone you hung for it ect.
back then crime was way way down then people started mistreating it and innocent people started dying Now however we have DNA and other "Hard evidence" that can be gathered.
I fully believe that they should die for their crimes since so many of known child and adult rape victims end up committing suicide. They have also learned that if they rape with out a weapon they will only get 3-5 years where if they rape with a weapon they can get 20-life.
They know how the system works and they are counting on people to be forgiving what we have forgotten is our justice system is not in place to "help the bad guy" but for Justice for the victim and making sure that that person does not hurt anyone else.

If Rapists were told you get caught you DIE they would learn some self control.
(again this is for cases that have solid hard core evidence not just some one saying the word rape)

For rape I would say no, but not because I think rapists don't deserve it.

The problem is so many women have cried rape, either when they changed their mind after the fact or even when the check bounced, that I think there is a real and substantial risk that a consensual partner who later changes her mind and story could result in an innocent person receiving a premature death.

And please don't think I am having a go at women in general. I believe most people who claim they were raped were, it is just a minority.

A civilized society does not consider the death penalty in any case. We have no more right to take the life of a fellow person as a murderer does. Further there are way too many cases especially in regards to rape, that the DNA evidence years later clears the person of the crime. The death penalty has never proved statically to be a deterrent and with the appeals process the way it is it is cheaper to keep them alive then to execute them

I for one do not think we should take that kind of chance. As Benjamin Franklin said "better a thousand guilty men go free then one innocent person should suffer"

No, because this will give an incentive for rapists and child molestors to KILL their victims because they will now have nothing to lose, because if caught they will face a death penalty. Not punishing rapists with death gives them incentives to let their victims live.

No, because sometimes judges and juries foul things up. Forensic evidence doesn't speak for itself, it calls for interpretation by fallible humans.

Sometimes people lie. A woman named Cathleen Crowell Webb lied and said that Gary Dotson raped her. Dotson was convicted and went to jail for nearly six years (he was sentenced to serve between 25 and 50 years).

Webb then recanted, and Dotson was released.

Oops. Sorry about that six years in the pokey, Gary. At least we didn't kill you in there.

Without a DOUBT

To the I dont believe in death penalty pretenders: let someone kill someone close to your heart then tell us you dont even have the slightest thought or hope of the death of that person and I'll call you a LIAR

No, all you have to do is tatoo rapist or child moslester on their forheads, and then they would be dead long before the appeal process would have been complete on a DP case. They are the lowest form of life in prison.

I would prefer castration by shotgun blast, but make sure they survive. Then after two months of suffering in agonizing pain, a .22 bullet to the back of the head.

I do not believe the death penalty is ever appropriate. It does not deter crime one bit. The death penalty is legalized murder born out of a sense of revenge rather than of justice.
