I have a old amd socket A, I ran aida32 on it and it says the board has 100 Mhz (DDR) - real clock, 200Mhz effective clock How fast of a Athlon/Athlonxp can I use?

Hi. An Athlon 2100+. You can try a faster CPU but it may not run at the speed advertised.

A slow motherboard will slow down a relatively fast cpu....it is no point in putting a good cpu into an old motherboard and new cpus will not even fit into old mother boards due to different architecture...

This depends on the board's front and back side bus rating.

look that up and match it with a cpu, altho i doubt you will find any new ones being sold for something that old

You need more information about the specific motherboard. If you download SIW (http://www.gtopala.com) it should find your motherboard model number and serial number, allowing you to go to the manufacturer website to look up the exact specs.
