Just remember to carry down a zero when you need it and just keep going until you repeat or get a zero as the remainder.

The answer is 0.375

Another way to do this would be to do it as fractions. Say you want it to 3 decimal places, then write:

3 ...... x
-- = --------
8 ... 1000

When you solve for x you'll get:
x = 3000 / 8
x = 375

So the answer is 375/1000 --> 0.375

But long division seems easier. (And a calculator is probably even easier.)
