y-y1=m(x-x1)

Y minus y sub one equals slope times x minus x sub one.

okay people, it's not that hard.

y-y1=m(x-x1)

like if your ordered pair was (1,-8) and the slope was 1/2the formula would look like:

y+8=1/2(x-1)

to clear that up: y=mx+b is slope intercept form

I think it is y=mx+b
Good Luck! are you in Algebra? Because i took that course last year and in geometry this year i have used point slope form. Hope I helped!! =]

y- y1 = m (x- x1)

slope = m
points given = (x1, y1)

y-y1=m(x-x1)

substituting a point (x,y) in for x1 and y1

change in y over change in x
(y-y1)/(x-x1)=m
