did you cut a small chunk off the bottom of the chrstmas tree before you took it in the house. if you didn't the tee can't adsorb the water it needs. than the tree will dry out. because the tree is not getting the intake it needs of water. if the tree is not getting the water it needs it will dry out faster. because of the dry bottom.

It stops drinking when it starts losing it's freshness and can't absorb anymore water. Usually in the first 2 weeks you have the tree.. it sucks up water like crazy.. then after that it just stays full. Best Wishes!

A cut tree is dying or already dead. If it's somewhat alive still it will take in water, if not it is already dead. You can try to cut off a small section of the bottom to possibly reveal a still living part that can take up water. The very end exposed to air may already be dead.

The tree can absorb only so much water at a time. Just make sure to keep it watered.
