I have a 13-year-old daughter and she loves clothes, cell phones, MP-3 players, and makeup. One thing I wouldn't suggest getting her are toys because most girls that age have pretty much outgrown them. If she asks for something specific, that's fine but a lot of people who aren't familiar with girls that age tend to get them items that are "too young" for them.

At that age, she could easily spend a gift card if she has a way to get to the store. Also, a new game for her game system (such as Nintendo DS, etc.), a music CD such as Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, movie theater tickets to a movie she'd like to see, make-up such as nail polish or lip gloss (if she wears it), a purse (there are some darling tween purses out there!), hair accessories, perfume such as Love's Baby Soft or some other mild scent, Pokemon cards (if she is a collector), a Precious Moments or Wilow Tree figurine (or any addition to a current collection), a cute top, a DVD of a movie she likes, a 2008 calendar, art supplies, age appropriate book(s) - I highly recommend the Dear Dumb Diary series by Jim Benton. These are all things that my daughter would like or is receiving herself. Good luck!

I have a 12 year old daughter.
She has asked for : a digital camera, a cell phone, mp3 player, a couple of Lego sets, chocolate and anything from Bath & Body Works.
She also likes arts & crafts supplies, age-appropriate jewelry, socks with fun designs and stuffed animals or animal theme items. A journal and a matching pen is a nice gift for that age, too.

When I was 12, I probably wanted an mp3 player.
Or if you're looking for something cheaper, clothes, make up.. depending on how girly she is.

how well do you know her? if you know that she has a certain set of interests, you could try to get her a gift card to a store that caters to it. i know that something like that might be a bit boring... in the past, i've gotten friends' children things like art books and crafting supplies... things like that... an itunes card is always a safe bet since she can pick out the music she likes...

It depends on what type of girl...a tomboy will not enjoy shoes or purses. Everyone likes money; Just give her that.
