Pepboys is available in Long Island.

I believe they stock Mobil 1 0W-40. You may talk to them to see if they're willing to let you use your own oil, they probably will charge a little more. It all depends on the store manager. I once got them to change my oil with my own oil and filter, they charged me their basic (cheapest) oil change package price.

You can then reset your service indicator on your own... see link below

There's not a lot that can go wrong with an oil change so I wouldn't be too worried. Heck you could do this at home without any hassle.
You're on the East Coast so if you use organic oil, I'd suggest something that rates as low as 5 so you don't worry about freezing. Aside from that you might consider using synthetic oil which has 3 times the life of organic oil and much better hot/cold tolerances.
I only use synthetic in my 3 BMWs. (325, 328 and M3.)

If you have a manual transmission, then it never needs to be changed - it's good for the life of the vehicle. It never gets hot enough to be a problem and it does not serve as a hydraulic fluid. If you have an automatic, then just follow the BMW recommended service interval in the owner's manual.

I am sure that there is a good quality shop that could do it for less than a dealer. Try googling BMW repair with your zip.

If you can do it yourself , it is not hard at all. Actually it is very simple. If you wnat someone else to do it for you then google BMW certified shops in your area.
