As the question states my wife and I are having trouble getting pregnant, our sex life was great we both reached orgasm and we had a few close ones but they turned out to be failed attempts as the rest, All of her functions are pretty normal ovulation through to period, so I am thinking that perhaps it could be me, any advice or thoughts on the matter?

My wife has had regular periods but as she has gotten older they've become irregular and sometimes Irratic, also she has on occasion suffered tremendous pains around her ovaries and believes that it is she who is responcible and not me.

Well you both should get checked out..don't blame yourselves or stress over it because that will not help the situation at all. It will probably happen when you stop thinking about it and just enjoy each others companionship. Hope you have some luck in the near future with it!

Since your wife's periods are irregular there is the possibility that you are missing when she ovulates and not having sex at the correct time.

Read the book: Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. The book explains your cycle, charting and how to get pregnant. This book is a must read. If your wife starts charting her waking temperature, she will be able to determine with accuracy when she is ovulating. This information can aid you in having sex at the correct time as well as providing your doctors with information that can lead them to figuring out what the problem is if she has a problem.

Some other tips:
-When having baby sex, do not use lube (KY Jelly, astroglide, etc) it renders sperm immobile. If you want to use lube, use preseed. (You should try it anyway even if you don't usually use lube. Preseed promotes a sperm friendly atmosphere. You insert it 10 minutes prior to having sex.) http://www.preseed.com/
-Do not douche or use scented tampons. They alter the acidity of the vagina.
-Do not have oral sex when you are having baby sex. Saliva can kill sperm.
-Have sex in the missionary position. This allows for the deepest penetration and will deposit the sperm closest to the cervix.
-After sex, stay laying down with your pelvis slightly elevated/tilted for 15 minutes.

There is only a 25% chance in each cycle that you will become pregnant. It is normal for a healthy couple to take up to one year to conceive. If you are over 30 and have been trying for six months, your doctor will start testing to see if there is a problem.

Oh dear..I'm so sorry!

Hmmm....you really haven't stated that you have consulted a doctor, so you really don't know...if...any one of you has a problem here.

I knew of a couple who was trying for more than 6 years..

What happened?

They got....well....a little tipsy one night....

And.....Surprise!

Now isn't that how it ussually happens anyway?...LOL...Sounds silly right?....but it's a well known fact.

Sometimes the self healing Doctors say that it's just a matter of something as simply as.....relaxing about it. Releasing the tension about....trying so hard to have a baby...and replacing it with something else.

Then......Having a really relaxing day.....followed by a very FUN night.....on those times of the month when she is indeed ovulating...

Try something like...

Were you can time...those days. It doesn't matter how irregular she is. I'm VERY irregular, and I'm also pregnant with my third.

Go out....have fun.....relax.....have FUN sex, were you're not thinking...

I have to get her pregnant tonight...
I have to get her pregnant tonight...
I have to get her pregnant tonight...
I have to get her pregnant tonight...

Have a few glasses of wine......You just never know!

Tips for Getting Pregnant
Women can do many things to increase their chances of getting pregnant. First, women should stop using birth control pills and other forms of contraception. Getting pregnant after being on the pill shouldn’t be a problem, as women generally recover their fertility within a month of stopping usage.

To improve the likelihood of conception, women should follow several common tips for getting pregnant, including:

-Exercise regularly
-Manage their weight
-Eat healthfully
-Avoid smoking and using illegal drugs

Women can also take folic acid and other **natural fertility boosters** to improve their chances of getting pregnant. Finally, women can chart fertility to learn on which days she has the best chance of conception.

Good luck guys!

Lucy

I don't know how you can know if her functions are normal unless she's been tested. You should both be evaluated by a doctor to identify the problem, assuming there is one.

Instead of guessing you should both be tested. See a fertility specialist who can run tests and determine if one or both of you has an issue.

Good luck.

I would suggest you go get a semen analysis test. Me and my wife ran into problems trying to conceive and I got tested and that's where the problem was.

get your sperm tested. see how many swimmers you have. it probably isn't that but at least you could eliminate the possibility. Good luck to you and your wife.
