Nicknamed the "Granddaddy of them all," this piece-of-crap Bowl game only accepts west-coast teams. What a crock! If you're not going to accepts east-coast teams, how legitmate is that? How pretentious is that!

I know the Rose Bowl is part of the BCS now and could conceivably take on an east-coast team, but only on its turn in the rotation. That doesn't make up for its snobbery. I say f'k the Rose Bowl. I hope rioters burn the stadium down.

If not for the Rose Bowl where do you think USC would be playing now. Over the past twenty years one team or another from the Pac-10 has been overlooked or disrespected by the polls and to this date the only Bowl game which has allowed the teams to prove otherwise has been the Rose Bowl. I am sure the participants mainly the USC Trojans would be more than happy to play whomever but the powers to be try to stick to Tradition and thats why we have an Illinois playing in the game, much to my dismay.

Historically the Rose bowl had the Big Ten champ VS the Pac 10 Champ....I cant see what the problem is since this year its USC VS Illinois, Ohio State was already taken, so they got the runner up--who also beat Ohio State. What seems to be the problem with that?

Is Illinois a west-coast team? Is Michigan? Do you have a clue? Your rant, and your language, show a lack of intelligence on your part and a lack of respect for me and the other bloggers here. The Rose Bowl is not my favorite bowl game but it deserves the moniker "Granddaddy of them all" as they were the first and unlike the Cotton Bowl, among others, they have maintained their elite status.. Do as you wish, as for me I salute the Rose Bowl.

well, the runners of the rose bowl like to keep tradition. That way you will always see a Pac10 vs. Big 10 team up in there. Unless of course its their turn in the rotation.

Either way, the big 10 vs pac 10 has traditionally been rose bowl football. I fondly remember USC stomping northwestern a few years back, when wisconsin went, yea. Id like to see tradition kept, I actually hate it when non big 10 teams play in the rose bowl

Well maybe you dont understand the fact that it is a traditional Pac-10 vs. Big Ten game and since both conferences are BCS conferences they are guarenteed a BCS bowl. I dont think the Illini deserve a BCS game it should have been Ohio State vs. USC, because the big ten was one of the weakest conferences in college football and shouldn't have gotten into the NC. Thats alright both teams are going to get murdered.

the history of the Rose Bowl...Pac 10 vs Big 10 (midwest, not west coast)

that is the history of the game, since the mid 1900's, I don't think that qualifies as snobbery
