How do all of you second amendment enthusiasts respond to stories like this? Are you foolish enough to believe that if so-called "law-abiding" citizens carried guns, that would prevent these events from happening? I'll tell you what would happen instead: people would pull out their weapons willy-nilly and cause far more deaths. Or, in a more typical situation, two hot-heads would confront each other with weapons with fatal results (including innocent bystanders) instead of just hurt feelings. Have you ever ridden on a crowded subway in a large city where people, after a hard days work, are pushing and shoving? Would you really feel safe if those same people all had guns in their pockets?
This is madness.

I live in Omaha too. But your answer to this would then have you stop allowing cars on the road because there are many more irresponsible people on the road than go shooting up a place.

The 2nd amendment did not pull the trigger of the AK47. This kid full of despair pulled the trigger. He was going to feel that way whether we have the right to bear arms or not. If there were no guns then he would have just chosen a different weapon.
You say no need for guns until someone breaks into your house... It's for prevention.
Do you keep a fire extinguisher?... I bet you don't plan on a house fire either but it's best to be prepared.
Guns don't kill people... People kill people.

My bet is that this kid didn't legally own that gun in the first place. So what you are saying is pointless. If it isn't legal to own guns then only people who don't care about the law will posses them. As is criminals. What is so hard to understand about that? What is your solution to the gun problem then smart guy? Knock on every door in the country and politely ask them to turn over their guns? What happens if they don't? What happens if guns are smuggled into the country by criminals? Everyone would be just fish in a barrel. Guns don't kill people, it may make it easier and faster but you can kill people with knives, baseball bats, you car or your bare hands. How do you make all those weapons illegal? If someone wants to kill someone, they will find a way.

i do believe in the right to bare arms..i do wish there was a way to limit them to various people..if guns were totaly outlawed, that would not stop maniacs..they would find something else to murder people...you can not stop mentaly challanged people all together...where there is a will..there is a way...what bothers me is the mass killings like the schools and some work places...the suicide bombers are a prime example..if guns were totaly abolished..then we would have other weapons to fight wars...i have been hunting for over 50 yrs...i have NEVER even thought about using my gun for anything else...

Yeah so maybe we should stop propagating hatred and promoting superficial crap and actually act human and we wouldn't be so prone to blowing peoples' heads off over every lil dispute-
I am not a "right to bear arms" person but the guns are not the issue...The inability to embrace our diversity and differences is...

I live in Omaha where this happenned and have been to that store ,crazy huh.
I think only past criminal offenders and mentally ill should not be allowed to own guns
