Absolutely. One of the best reasons to do an internship is to get work experience that you don't otherwise have. I always tell my students that I keep seeing position announcements for "entry-level" jobs which require from one to three years of experience in the field. If they don't get internships while they are in college, their chances of getting a job after graduation are seriously diminished.
