The Treasury department will knock on your door; take the $$; question the crap out of you & threaten to prosecute you unless you take them to the person who gave you the $$. Then you'll spend time testifying in front of a Federal Grand Jury & possibly a Federal criminal jury.

Depends on what you mean by "in trouble".

If Walmart notices the fake money came from you, it will come back to you, and you will be required to make good on the deal.

You will be pressed very hard to lead back to where you got it from, and even if Walmart takes the tv back, you will have to give up the money to the cops and you are still out the money.

If your info leads back to a bigger fish to fry, you will be expected to testify in the trial in order to stay out of the frying pan your self.

You may or may not ever see your car again, depending on how cooperative you are.

BTW, is it possible to spend 2k in Walmart without buying one of everything? :)

If you found the money and attempted to spend it you could get in trouble for theft as the money is not legally yours. if it was given to you (I assume to pay a debt to you) and it was not an obvious counterfeit you might be able to beat the charge.

if you didn't know it was fake like you said you would not get in trouble you would just be out the money if walmart accepts the money they would be out the money when they try to deposit it at the bank
