We have a saab that has caused us problems ever since we got it. We took it into the shop about seven time (not joking) and they could never figure out what it was. Finally they figured out what it was and we just paid five hundred to get it fixed. My Husband was driving it today and the same problem started with it again other than this time he said it was a little different. It was smelling really bad. So he thinks it might be the transmittion along with what was happening before. We dont have that kind of money right now up front. the question is and this is probably a stupid one but would we be able to just trade it in for anything or would they just take it and not give us anything. Talking money wise for it. they said if it is the same problem they will fix it for free. PLEASE HELP!!!! just want to get rid of the peice of S***!!

I have talked about Saabs before, they are expensive and unless you can afford a new one don't do Saab, when you get a used one they are a money pit, many shops aren't familiar enough with them to do a competent job and the dealers aren't reasonably priced at all. Take it back and see what the garage says then get it down the road as soon as it is running well! Good luck and hopefully good cars in your future.

I wish you had mentioned your previous problems. The car doesn't realy sound like the problem your mechanic sounds either greedy or inept. Get on the net and find out as much as you can about your car, get a manual and learn about your car. Talk to your auto savy friends even that guy you knew in high school who only took shop class then ask them who they recomend to fix your car. Phone no less then 10 shops describe your problems, most mechanics will be able to hazard a guess as to what your problem is most will give you an estimate over the phone. If you dont understand what the mechanic is saying ask more questions.

Get it fixed so that it's running and trade it in. Most places won't give you much if the car isn't working, but will at least give you low bluebook wholesale if the car drives.

If it smells really bad, does it smell like rotten eggs? If so it's likely that the catalytic converter has gone out, and it will make your car run poorly.

Your question would be more meaningful as well as the answers you get if you at least shared with us what kind of vehicle you are talking about... no offense. In other words, you don't do the same thing with ford and honda.
