Many, many things can cause a seizure, including medications, fever, emotional stress, overheating, alcohol or other drugs, meningitis, high blood pressure, problems with organs such as kidneys, eye and vision problems, thyroid trouble.... the list is long. Any person who is suffering from seizures should see a physician immediately for an evaluation. Tell her not to panic, but to pick up the phone and call a physician NOW. It could save her life if it is something serious. If not serious, she will be relieved that she is under medical care.

Good luck

Medications is one possibility. I had a medication induced seizure in 1992. I would recommend asking your doctor for a consultation with a neurologist if you haven't already seen one yet to see what they say.

Typically it is because of some kind of head trauma, but there is a small number who get them from medication side effects, tumor growth in the brain, or other organic causes. If you know someone who has developed them suddenly, then they should be fully examined and tested by a neurologist.
