My Acer Aspire has only worked for three months, then broke.
The dealer played with it , but couldn't fix it.
I have sent it back to Acer five times now and the freight is killing me. Each time it hasn't worked an hour.
The last time they changed nothing, I turned it on and before it downloaded the Norton updates it went blue screen.
Acer now says it is off warranty, and won't help.
(They have had it in their system for nine months now.)
I am thoroughly frustrated and am just throwing it away.

I am wondering if it was the only bad one out there.
Their warranty definetely sucks.

Ps This is my fifth laptop, and I ahve had computers since the DOS days.

It is an Aspire 3680.
I always had problems hooking up wirelessly on a linksys g router.
I can live with this, but the thing won't run long enough to even try fixing the little things. The last time it locked up on the screensaver and took several minutes to shut down. It then did a disc check that took several hours in which time it corrupted the ldr file and several others.
This is the third hard drive in this.
The memory has been changed twice.

Our bank had Acer PC and servers. Three were struck by lightening and had to be replaced. Anyone one of the three replacements never worked right. Brand new Acer and would out of the blue shut itself off and restart. We contacted Acer and they would only send us replacements for different things our PC repair guy would try. We replaced everything. The entire PC was brand new before we were done. By that time the warranty had run out and the PC still didn't work. Yep, the bank just junked it and bought a Dell.

My sisters both have brand new laptops, both are acers. One is an Aspire-3680 and the other is an Aspire 5055 or something like that. The 3680 is loaded with vista home basic and the other home premium. the 3680 had a problem and wouldn't connect and kept restriction user until i had to restore it manually and the other had a disk shatter in the drive and completely locked up. it was warranted and was back in 3 weeks. i think they are OK laptops but they do have a long way to go before they hit perfection. What is your laptop and how much would you consider getting rid of it for parts.

" My computer is broken.", My printer won't work." and "I get an error message." are examples of how NOT to get good tech support. Phrases like these don't tell us enough to figure out what is actually wrong.

Please re-post with the name of the program you are using, a description of your specific problem, all error messages, word for word, (if applicable) and your PC make & model, components (if applicable), and operating system used.

If your machine hasn't completely given up the ghost, reboot the darn thing FIRST, then see if you can re-create the problem, taking careful notes on everything YOU DO AND SEE on the screen along the way. Write down any and all error messages you encounter and don't leave out any of the "techno-gobbledy-goop", because that's more important than anything you can say.

Then, we can try to help.

TIP: "I turned it on and before it downloaded the Norton updates it went blue screen." Un-install Norton completely, and re-boot, it sounds like it is the PROBLEM. Try AVG Free instead:

- initiate - Run - style in sfc /scannow (comprise the area till now the " / ") What SFC does is that it tries to repair or replace serious working gadget information. on occasion that's carried out without the installation disk, even though it may instant you for the proper working gadget installation disk. if that's so, then you definately understand which you somewhat have substantial report corruption or some thing lacking. Insert the disk if triggered. additionally you ought to run SFC utilising the Administrator account.

Never had that many problems...their tech support isn't the greatest but they seem to hold up fairly well.
