what is the difference when a dvd blank disc says 2x or 4x?

it means its not going to burn very fast ... get an 8X or higher unless u want to wait an hour for it to burn ...

this is the write speed capability of a disk.

based on the normal playing speed of the disk..
i.e. a 1 hour video will take approximately 30 minutes to write on a 2X disk, 15 minutes on a 4X and so on.. up to the maximum speed of your writer.. so if you have an 8X writer, there is no point buying 16X disks, as they will only write at 8X

2x means that it burns the material onto it twice as fast.

4x means it burns it four times as fast.

2x means it takes forever to burn a disc. I use 16x but you must make sure your discs are compatible with your burner.
