I hadnt seen them for a long time, but we all watched them when we had our Thanksgiving dinner. It was like a trip back in time to see the way they dressed and danced. So proper-and you could understand every word. What a concept! I especially enjoyed seeing the Lennon sisters. How out of place they would be in today's world. Buttoned up to the throat and long skirts. But they certainly were good. Thanks for pulling up that memory.

Any of the previous 50's & 60's shows. i like to work out the older actors of today as they have been first presented on a number of the older shows. David Canary, today's Stuart Chandler on All My infants additionally performed candy, the 30-3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous Ponderosa Foreman in Bonanza decrease back in 1967-70. And the different day, I observed an episode of i like Lucy that still starred Barbara Eden as a 20 3 hundred and sixty 5 days-previous female that Lucy and Ethel have been all jealous of for turning Fred and Rickey's heads. From what I comprehend, this became Eden's debut visual attraction into television.

From time to time, I do. I had it bad for Kathy. My favorite was THE OLD LAMP LIGHTER. Here's the song, not by the Lennon Sisters, but by the Browns. I don't know why, but it always made me misty, even as a teen.
My grandmother always said she'd love to be there and dance with Lawrence Welk on the show.

I would, if I was at home by myself when he's on. Husband does most of the remote clicking, and he is addicted to documentaries.
I used to like Dick Dale and Mary Lou Metzger best.
One night at work, a young person dialed around, found the Welk Show and sat back to watch it. Another person asked him what the heck he had on. He said "MTV for old folks"

My mom used to watch the show every Saturday evening no matter what. If I was at home, when I was a teenager, she always called me into the room to watch it with her. I didn't like it much at all and felt like it was only for old people. I would watch it with her just to be nice but I thought...."when I get older and out on my own , I will NEVER watch this dumb show again." Well I watch that ' dumb show ' at least every other Sat or so. It brings back nice memories of me doing something ( which was rare) with my mom.

A one & a two.......Yes, I still watch it for a few minutes when I run across it. When I was younger, I watched LW with my parents every Saturday night. I always loved seeing the Lennon Sisters on the show. You never hear about them anymore do you? Former Mousketeer, Bobby Burgess, was on the show from time to time, & boy, could he ever dance.

... but first, a word from Geritol...
Do you have tired blood?
My sister and I always used to think he sounded like Dracula when he said "tired blaad". I haven't watched a rerun, but I remember watching it with my Grandma years ago. She thought Myron Floren was the best (he probably was...) and I remember in later seasons of the show, finding out that the drummer was Paul Humphrey.
Paul had a couple of R&B hits in the early 70's with his group "Paul Humphrey and the Cool Aid Chemists". Paul was (possibly still is) a great session drummer, doing a ton of jazz and film score work in LA.
The music wasn't particularly my style, but I knew it was good... and the time spent sitting and watching with Grandma and a cup of her strong Italian coffee was time well spent.
peace

Yes, our local PBS station plays the show twice each weekend. My favourite period is from the mid 1960s (before the introduction of so many extra singers, endless chiffon and attempts at singing current chart hits of the day.) I think the show still has meaning for a lot of people. It reminds me of when I watched with my grandparents, all of us enjoying the show very much.
